Fall Festivities
Mom and dad need to learn some things:
1. a leaf is great fun, and a tasty treat!
[Any time Lucy is set on the ground, she'll go for the nearest leaf and put it in her mouth.]
2. But too many of them can make you sick and scared!
When they're not out playing around, Elena has been pleased to have Lucy play in her room while dad does homework. This was earlier tonight while mom's at work. As long as Elena isn't too friendly, (it's good to show the baby your love by squeezing her as hard as possible, right?) they get along very well. Elena often helps take care of and/or entertain her sister.

Photography, Day 2
"Why do you bother me without massaging my wholsome catness?" Today we learned about the zoom(in this case, zoom means bringing the camera really close to the subject!)
Oh the views we catch of loved ones when they may not want us too. I am sure Lucy will love her sister for this one by the time she reaches her teenage years.
The Beauty, the focus, the calming front with an active background... (does any of that sound 'artsy' to you? Can you tell I don't know what i'm talking about?)I am thinking we may need to keep the old camera for Elena, or we won't be able to use ours the way she hogs it!
Our new photographer
Elena has discovered the joys of taking pictures, and has thus far taken about 100 or so pics. Most of them turn out ok, as long as she's not moving the camera too much, (that's where we were going wrong!) This first one is at the Teddy Bear park in Stillwater.
Lucy isn't the only one facinated with feet. Apparently they're different through the lens?

6 Month Stats
After rescheduling my 6 month well child check up 5 times and visiting the clinic twice yesterday(the doc was at the hospital delivering a baby the first time), I finally had the chance to show Dr. Montague all my tricks. First I played pat-a-cake with my big sister, next I showed the doc how I turn over as soon as you try looking in my ears, and finally, I captured the stethoscope when she wasn't looking. I let them weigh me since I was there anyway. I am 16 pounds 12 ounces(75 %) and I am 26 inches tall(50%). Believe it or not, I am still 2 ounces less than Elena was at 6 months!

Sitting, scooting, and up on all fours!
This has been a busy week for Lucy. She has learned the great art of sitting. This doesn't last long and she plops herself back down on her tummy to scoot along to get into more trouble. It is so cute to see her up on all fours with her short arms and chubby thighs. She really gets going if we let her roam without a diaper (who would have known their dual purpose!) The two things she will try hardest to get: her sister's toys and dad's lunch!
Mini Vacation at the Kaplans
We love to go to the farm and play with the kitties, donkeys, goats, mini horses, alpacas, bunny and pig. Nana and Papa bought a new cabin "a stones throw" away from their house. It is great - there's a fireplace and big windows looking out onto the lake. Thanks so much for letting us get away from the city life for a couple of days!
First Food!
I finally caved! Lucy had her first rice cereal feeding at 5 1/2 months. She loved it - we even have her on video saying "ummmm"! Elena enjoyed being able to deliver the rice cereal mixed with mommy milk. Lucy has been grabbing at our food for some time now, she even scooted after Kevin's lunch today. She has proven to us that she knows how to use a straw as well. This child will not go hungry!
