WalkAmerica

Don't we look good! Sunday was the March of Dimes WalkAmerica. We walked 5 miles, in the rain, with two strollers! This was to raise money for the MOD which is an organization dedicated to prematurity(preventing, researching, and helping those that have come along early.) Surprisingly the walk wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. The rain took the focus off of how out of shape I am! Elena had a blast, the only grumpiness that showed up was when we had to put her back in the stroller because we were falling so far behind. Lucy stayed toasty warm on daddy's chest in the Baby Bjorn for the first couple miles and slept the rest of the way in the stroller. Thanks to all of those who donated. 

Spring Dance Show

Elena danced in her last dance show of the year on Saturday. She is the little one in the purple tutu toward the right. She had lots of people cheering her on in the bleachers(as always). Daddy Kevin made it just in time to see the finale and for Lucy to spit up all down the front of his "Class A" Uniform that he needed to wear that evening to the Military Ball!

Elena, Maya, and Lucy sure know how to take great pictures, maybe when they are all in high school we will be able to capture them all smiling...at the same time!

Doesn't seem like the three babes are having much fun here! Lucy(6 weeks) is on the right, Austin(11 weeks) in the middle and Alyssa(6 weeks) is on the left. The moms sure had a good time at lunch, despite their whiney babies!
I finally caught Lucy smiling on camera! She shared her first real smile at 4 weeks and started cooing at five weeks.
Have I mentioned what a good eater we have on our hands! Lucy has "pipes" like her dad, and is working on her third thigh roll! I'm guessing she has just about doubled her birth weight now.

Spring in MN

We love the warm weather and the chance to go outside and play!  

Elena's Days...

Elena has had to find different ways to entertain herself during Lucy's many feedings (and while mom tries, without success, to catch up on all the laundry!). Here she is playing with her Care Bears (organizing!) She made a great train the other night, it included all of her furniture and little people. We try to get out of the house at least a few times during the week. Elena can spend hours at the library reading stories and playing with the puzzles and magnets. She loves these fairy tale chairs that they have at the Woodbury library. We usually go to Central Park every week to stop at the library, indoor playground, indoor waterfall, and a quick lunch at the "restaurant". We also get together for playgroup almost every week with other moms and kids in the area.
I can only guess that Elena is imitating what her big brother learned in karate last week!
This is mom's old dance outfit, Elena would wear it everyday if she could! At closer glance you would see that this is about 5 sizes too big for Elena! (I just realized that our toilet is in the background of this pic...I'll have to look closer at what I am posting next time!)

Austin outgrew this cute sweater outfit, so now we get to borrow it. It is so warm and cuddly.

Austin and Lucy

This is Lucy's friend Austin Reed Deegan. Austin is one month older than Lucy. Jess and Chris welcomed the little guy into their home February 6th. Austin had a jump start in weight, he was 2 pounds heavier than Lucy. Lucy is quickly playing catch up in the weight gaining arena. They love to get together for playdates. Austin's dad, Chris, says we can't start planning their wedding yet... But we are planning some fun summer outings with the kids this summer.

Elena still thinks that babies are pretty special and is enjoying her little sister and new little friends. She is also enjoying all the fun toys everyone got for her when she became a new big sister!

Visiting at Church

This is Grandma Audrey with baby Lucy. They coordinated jackets for the occasion. We went to church when Lucy was 4 days old to meet some relatives and friends.
Here is Great Auntie Gwen holding Lucy and her newest granddaughter, Ava. Ava and Joe were visiting from Atlanta for the weekend.

Mom thinks I'm going to lose all this black hair, just like my big sister. I'm kinda attached to it though!

I'm a little pumpkin...

Lucy doesn't look too happy about being placed naked in the window! She made sure mom got up and out of the house plenty of times that first week. By Tuesday(when Lucy was only five days old), her pink skin was only visible on her hands and feet, the rest of her body was covered in a nice orange glow. So we made daily trips to the clinic for the next 3 days. Lucy slipped by without needing phototherapy(to treat Jaundice)...but just barely! Mom thinks it was all the close skin to skin time they spent together that made all the difference (or maybe it was all the eating and pooping that has been going on.) Please add to mom's do not eat list: BROCOLLI! --I was up all night after having that green stuff!

SHE'S HERE!!!

Lucy Christine Ross was born at 8:34pm, (that's 20:34 for you military peeps,) Thursday March 9th, 2006 Weighing in at 6 pounds and 2 ounces, she's a bit light for the Ross side of the family, but will no doubt make it up soon, as she has taken her appetite from her dad! We had a minor scare when Emily didn't dilate for several hours, but once C-section was threatened, things happened rather fast!
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME?!?!"
After being 3cm for a while, she ended up going from 6cm at 7:30, to 9cm at 8pm, and Lucy born at 8:34, almost before Dr. Less made it back after his initial assessment!
She was very responsive, albeit not happy about being out!

Happy Family

The beautiful girl was fairly responsive, crying briefly after mom became the first person Dr. Less has ever seen dry and stimulate their own baby as soon being placed on mom's chest.

Happy Family. This is about one hour after birth. Everyone complemented how great Emily looked afterwards, (She actually had a stunt double fill in for the last couple hours of birth;) and how beautiful Lucy came out: no bruises or bumps, and minimal head shaping.
